These make great, low-calorie training treats. Our dog Loves them! And they are so simple and easy to make.

All you need is:

1 sweet potato

Potato peeler

Baking pan

Parchment paper

Mandolin – not required but So much easier than trying to get uniform slices when you cut them by hand.

Preheat oven to 250 degree.

Wash and peel potato, cutting out any eyes or black spots. Slice. I did thin slices, about 1/8” thick, but you can do thicker if you wish. Just be sure to adjust the cooking time.

Cover baking pan with parchment paper. Place slices in single layer on paper, laying them close together. It’s ok if the edges are touching, just try not to overlap.

Bake for about 23-25 minutes. Flip and bake an additional 20-25 minutes. Check frequently – they can over-bake or burn quickly. Adjust baking time according to thickness and how well done you want the slices. I like to have them still pliable so I can cut them in small pieces.

When cool enough to handle (usually within just a few minutes), cut pieces into bite-sized pieces. Store in a closed container in the refrigerator – I use a mason jar with a plastic lid. Keeps several weeks.
